Kayla Kierra Johnson (known artistically as Kayla Kierra) is a multimedia fine artist and designer based in New Orleans. Her work blends elements of pop culture with traditional techniques to explore the emotional and philosophical aspects of the human experience. Through mediums like digital illustration, oil painting, photography, and printmaking, Kayla creates visually striking pieces that delve into themes such as mental health, systemic oppression, mortality, and humanist thought. Her mission is to make art that is both beautiful and meaningful, inviting viewers to look deeper and connect more honestly with themselves and the world around them.
Kayla has obtained an MPS in UX/UI Design & Research from the Maryland Institute College of Art (2025), and a BFA in Studio Fine Arts from Loyola University (2022). She has received the Outstanding Bachelor of Fine Arts Student Award, the Scholastic Art and Writing Regional Gold Key Ceramics and Glass award, the Rau for Art Foundation scholarship, the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for Artistic Discovery, and a Certificate of Artistry from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. She has had her work exhibited at The Night of Femininity Exhibition (2018), the Congressional Arts (2018), NOCCA's End of Year Show (2014-2018), the Rau for Arts (2018), Clusterfunk (2022) and Plural (2022).
